Thought from the week

One of My Favorite Traits: A High Bias for Action

There are a lot of great traits to look for in the people you surround yourself with.

Integrity? Sure. Intelligence? Cool.

But the stand out for me recently is a high bias for action.

What does that mean?

It means doers. People who move fast, don’t drag their feet, and actually get sh*t done.

The opposite? Oh, you know these people.

They get assigned a task, and it goes straight into “the backlog.”

A week later, they “circle back” to “think about it.”

Another week passes, and now they’re “prioritizing it.”

Then, finally, after two more check-ins and a Slack thread so long it could be an audiobook, they complete a simple task that should’ve taken 15 minutes.

Meanwhile, a high-bias-for-action person? They get an idea, they execute, and they learn from the results.

Need to test a new sales script? Boom, they’re on the phone in 10 minutes.

Want to launch a new landing page? It’s live by the end of the day.

Thinking about starting a podcast? The first episode is already uploaded before they even tell anyone they’re doing it.

Speed is a Superpower.

Action creates momentum. Momentum creates opportunities. And the people who move fast usually end up way ahead of the ones still “thinking about it.”

So if you want to build a killer team, or just be the kind of person who actually gets things done, develop a high bias for action.
