Ben Sampson Headshot

Hey, I'm Ben!

I build, buy, and invest in businesses.

I've had 2 successful exits. Way more failures.

I write about building Freedom Companies to achieve what I call the three freedoms:

A life of financial freedom.
A life of time freedom.
A life of creative freedom.

I send one action packed email a week called a 1x1x1 where I write about businesses and people that I think are inspirational when it comes to creating freedom in their lives, or updates on the businesses we're building and buying.

This newsletter is the highlight of my week and I hope I can inspire and guide you to building your own freedom company.

Ben's 1x1x1 - August 16, 2024 🚀 - Embracing Rejection 🛑

For those of you that are new here, every week I send what I call a 1x1x1.

One learning, reminder, or interesting thought from my week.
One interesting find/tool from my week.
One image from my life.

Let's dive in 👇

Interesting thought from the week

Rejection sucks. Or at least it did for me for a long time.

I can remember every rejection from every girl I asked out in high school. My pooka shell necklace clearly wasn't doing me any favors.

But there is a silver lining.

The more rejections you receive, the thicker your skin gets.

Your ability to not be rattled by rejection becomes a super power.

I notice that many great entrepreneurs have this quality. They can take a hundred nos for every yes and be unfazed.

Getting rejections every day still stings a little, but I'm constantly reminding myself to embrace it.

Interesting find/tool of the week

I'm getting back on the road again and Airbnb's fees are ridiculous. My process now:

  1. Find a property I like on Airbnb.
  2. Find the property management company that manages the property.
  3. Book directly on property managers website or call asking to book directly.
  4. If that doesn't work, I'll book on VRBO as a last resort.

I've been saving an average of 5-10% on every booking.

One of the highlights of my day is our evening walk. The perfect end to every day.

See you all next week!
