Ben Sampson Headshot

Hey, I'm Ben!

I build, buy, and invest in businesses.

I've had 2 successful exits. Way more failures.

I write about building Freedom Companies to achieve what I call the three freedoms:

A life of financial freedom.
A life of time freedom.
A life of creative freedom.

I send one action packed email a week called a 1x1x1 where I write about businesses and people that I think are inspirational when it comes to creating freedom in their lives, or updates on the businesses we're building and buying.

This newsletter is the highlight of my week and I hope I can inspire and guide you to building your own freedom company.

Ben's 1x1x1 - August 2, 2024 🚀 - Back in the trough

For those of you that are new here, every week I send what I call a 1x1x1.

One learning, reminder, or interesting thought from my week.
One interesting find/tool from my week.
One image from my life.

Let's dive in 👇

Interesting thought from the week

It's been a really interesting exercise building and buying businesses in parallel.

Deals move slow and fall through constantly.

Builds always take longer than expected for testing and results. Builds also require lots of reps before finding a winner.

I'm definitely in a bit of a trough of sorrow.

God I hate the trough.

For those unfamiliar with the trough, here is my drawing of it (I'm clearly not an artist).

It's always a mission to push through the trough but it almost always pays off.

Interesting find/tool of the week

I'm covering a small amount of tasks for Andrew who operates our Pono Ventures marketing agency while he's out. As a result, I'm back in SmartLead (the tool we use for client outreach) and it just keeps getting better. Their inbox tool allows us to track, direct and manage leads for all our clients in one central location. God I love this product.

Image from my life

Is it sad that one of the most exciting items in my camera roll was homemade fish tacos?

See you all next week!
