Ben Sampson Headshot

Hey, I'm Ben!

I build, buy, and invest in businesses.

I've had 2 successful exits. Way more failures.

I write about building Freedom Companies to achieve what I call the three freedoms:

A life of financial freedom.
A life of time freedom.
A life of creative freedom.

I send one action packed email a week called a 1x1x1 where I write about businesses and people that I think are inspirational when it comes to creating freedom in their lives, or updates on the businesses we're building and buying.

This newsletter is the highlight of my week and I hope I can inspire and guide you to building your own freedom company.

For those of you that are new here, every week I send what I call a 1x1x1.

One learning, reminder, or interesting thought from my week.
One interesting find/tool from my week.
One image from my life.

Let's dive in 👇

Interesting thought from the week

The question I'm pondering this week:

Am I giving back enough?

My cousin called me a few days ago to congratulate us on the birth of our baby girl.

As per usual, we started talking shop.

My cousin started a thriving business a few years back servicing diesel semi trucks.

They can't keep up with the demand.

This call got me really inspired.

The fact that my cousin is 29 and has this thriving business is not what was inspirational.

The inspiration, was that he is 29 and is already aggressively giving back.

Not only is he giving back. He's doing it in a very unique way.

Every year he hires under supported high school kids in his area to come out and work on his 13 acre ranch.

They learn trades. They earn an income. They are surrounded by positive influences. They gain one of the best skills you can ever have - a work ethic.

It's made a meaningful difference in the lives of the teenagers he's worked with and is one of the most fulfilling things he does every year.

"I thought about what made me successful, and I decided I should give that to these kids."

This all got me thinking: There have been moments where I've had the opportunity to give back, yet I push it off with the same excuses:

  • I've done enough
  • I'll do more when my kids are in college
  • I'll be an active community member when I have $10M in the bank

I'm kidding myself with these excuses.

If I'm not giving or serving others in a consistent, meaningful way now, I likely never will in the future.

Now to figure out how to make a difference in the lives of others. Stay tuned!

Interesting find/tool of the week

Outside of apps that track how much my baby has pooped in a day, no mind blowing finds or tools for you all this week!
