Start and scale a business that gives you freedom

Hey, I'm Ben!

I build, buy, and invest in businesses.

I've had 2 successful exits. Way more failures.

I write about building Freedom Companies to achieve what I call the three freedoms:

A life of financial freedom.
A life of time freedom.
A life of creative freedom.

I send one action packed email a week called a 1x1x1 covering crazy cool businesses I spot, updates on what we're building and buying, and lessons from the journey of an entrepreneur. Β

Ben's 1x1x1 - March 15, 2024 πŸš€

For those of you that are new here, every week I send what I call a 1x1x1.

One learning or interesting item from my week.
One interesting item/tool of the week.
One image from my life.

Let's dive in πŸ‘‡

Learning/reminder of the week

It takes one great client to make a killer business.

With Pono Ventures, we have a few irons in the fire. One thing that I’ve noticed as we build a handful of companies is that one great client can be the tipping point.

We had this at our last company WeHero when Adobe signed on as a client. They were the client that not only kept giving us great business but also were a huge ambassador for our brand.

Finding these clients takes three things:

1. Providing as much value as you can to your early clients.
2. Timing - The patient game of working really hard until that right client shows up.
3. Luck.

Interesting item/tool of the week

I’m in Hawaii this week doing a quick baby moon with my wife. My favorite tool of the week is Surfline. Not only is it amazing how thorough this app is for surf reports, the UI/UX of this app is world class.

Image from my life

My wife and I got one last bit of travel in this week before our baby girl comes.

See you all next week!
