My AI Bummer Post - Ben's 1x1x1 - January 31, 2025 🚀
For those of you that are new here, every week I send what I call a 1x1x1. One thought from my week. One interesting find/tool from my week. One image from my life.
Let's dive in 👇
Thought from the week
AI is stressing me out. We’re f*cked.
That’s it. That’s the post. Happy Friday!
…Okay fine, I’m (mostly) kidding.
But I do wish I wasn’t so worried about it.
AI is moving so fast it feels like I’m watching an avalanche, and my brain won’t stop spinning:
What will college even look like for my daughter?
How should I invest when AI might reshape entire industries?
Will enterprise SaaS even be a thing, or will it just be ChatGPT hooked up to Stripe?
My brother’s a developer. Does he have three years from now?
What about all those lawyers buried in student debt for a career AI might replace?
Yeah, I know. Buzzkill energy today. “Thanks, Ben.”
But here’s the thing, I hate doomer talk.
I’m a default optimist, so I'm going to use the my newsletter for some self therapy and zoom out:
Humans always adapt. We panic first, then build the future. It's happened time and time again.
AI is our creation. It’s the biggest force multiplier ever.
Breakthroughs are happening faster. Medicine, energy, productivity. So much good is happening right now!
And let’s be real, scary AI content gets clicks. Fear is profitable, but reality is usually less dramatic.
So yeah, AI is wild. But I believe in good people.
We’ve figured out fire, the internet, and how to make Doritos Locos Tacos. This won’t break us.
Anyways, just a weird brain dump. If you wanna talk AI, I’m in.
Interesting find/tool of the week
Nothing groundbreaking to report this week.
Unless… you wanna check out The Catchy. A tray that catches food under a baby’s high chair.
What a stupid product. Stupidly simple. Stupidly high margins. Stupidly genius.
Sometimes, the best businesses are the ones that make you say, “Wait… that’s a thing? And it prints money?”
Stupid.
